Hi, I’m Roy Cotton, II

Orchestral Arranger With Over 20 Years of Experience

I am an orchestral arranger and conductor from Dallas, Texas. I began playing piano at age 14 in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia, where I come from a musical family.

My dad, an accomplished musician, got my brother and I started at a young age. I initially gave up piano at age 7, but picked it back up 7 years later. I wish I had stuck with it, as I believe that starting by playing by ear instead of reading music would have helped me develop a closer relationship with it.

I graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia with a B.S. in music engineering technology. I have recorded and arranged for many record artists including Mariah Carey, Usher, The Masked Singer (seasons 4-8), John Legend, Joe, Chrisette Michelle, Tamela Mann, Kierra Sheard, among others.

My passion is to train aspiring orchestrators and arrangers.

As my own mentors continue to guide me, I have promised to do the same for the next generation of musicians.
